Nearly Nirvana in ‘Journey to the West’…

There are many stand-out performances here, too many to count, but let me just mention Lilian Oben’s statuesque Guanyin and Jacob Yeh’s sober Jade Emperor among them; the supporting cast for Journey deserve a special shout-out, constantly changing costumes and creating some truly hilarious vignettes, with vaudeville-like schticks galore.
